Fishing as a Hobby: No Barriers, Everyone is Invited

Five to fifteen, fifteen to fifty, fifty to eighty, able-bodied or disabled--there is no physical barrier or age limit when it comes to taking up the hobby of angling. In Western Australia alone, there are over 500,000 anglers of all abilities who regularly pack fishing tackle into their cars, and head for the great outdoors. If you have a disability and have rejected the idea of taking up the hobby of fishing because of it, perhaps it’s time to reconsider. Since 2000, specialist associations, government bodies, and fishing clubs throughout Australia have been actively working together to increase the number of fishing areas which safely cater to both able-bodied and disabled anglers.
